Undergraduate Scholarships

ANU National Achievement Scholarship $5,000 Your chance to put your achievements to work

The University is offering a number of scholarships for students who have achieved highly in national or international academic competitions such as the Science Olympiads but whose more broadly based UAI is just not high enough for one of our other top scholarships.

Value
Each scholarship is worth $5,000 per annum for a maximum of four years.

Continuation of Scholarship
You must continue to achieve at 'an above average academic level' which is usually a Distinction average.


Requirements:

If you are an Australian Citizen or hold Permanent Resident status here and are a school leaver or completed school last year and did not enrol in any tertiary degree or diploma course this year you are eligible to apply.

Outstanding result in a national or international academic competition such as the Science Olympiads, backed by an excellent UAI score.

ANU National Undergraduate Scholarship $10,000 plus travel allowance The University offers up to 27 ANU National Undergraduate Scholarships each year, including one each for the School of Art and the School of Music, College of Arts and Social Sciences. The University allocates a number of the scholarships on a state and territory basis. The remaining scholarships will be awarded on a 'nationwide' basis.

Value
The value of the National Undergraduate Scholarship (NUS) is $10,000 per annum plus a travel allowance. The scholarship is to assist you to complete an honours degree or a combined program with honours in one or both degrees, on a full-time basis.

Continuation of Scholarship
Continuation of the scholarship each semester is subject to achievement at the appropriate level. Scholars are expected to achieve at the highest academic level possible, which is at least Distinction level.


Requirements: If you are an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or hold Permanent Resident Status in Australia and are a school leaver or completed school last year and did not enrol in any tertiary degree or diploma course this year you are eligible to apply.

Applicants need to have obtained an outstanding UAI score and must not have studied in any tertiary education institution in their gap year (if applicable).

To be awarded an ANU National Undergraduate Scholarship you have to:
  • complete normal admission procedures
  • achieve at a very high level in your final year or years at school
You do not have to:
  • have ANU as first preference
  • restrict your program choice
  • be interviewed for scholarship selection
  • send your Resume/CV
  • have been school captain
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit. In accordance with its national role, however, the University also seeks to maintain an appropriate balance between states and territories and in the range of discipline areas undertaken by scholars. It also takes into account general principles of equity in the selection of scholars.

You must apply for admission to ANU through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) as your UAC Number will be used in the scholarship application form. You can find more information about applying for admission through UAC here: www.uac.edu.au.

ANU Region Scholarship $5,000 What are the ANU Region Scholarships?
The University offers up to seven ANU Region Scholarships every year. Applicants are assessed on the basis of their Year 12 results. The value of this scholarship is $5,000 per annum for a maximum of four years.

Am I in the right region?
One scholarship is offered for each of the following regions: Wollongong, South Coast, Southern Highlands, Goulburn/Yass/Queanbeyan, Western Slopes and Plains and the South West. If your home and school Postcodes fall within the following postcode groups you are eligible to apply.
2500 - 2554; 2568 - 2599; 2619 - 2633; 2640 - 2681; 2700 - 2731; 2790 - 2820; 2830 - 2830; 2845 - 2850; 2864 - 2871; 2875 - 2877.

One scholarship is also available to an applicant from any of the regions awarded 'at large'. If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident who lives and is schooled in Victoria you are eligible to be considered for the scholarship awarded 'at large'. If you are a New Zealand citizen you may also be considered for the 'at large' scholarship.

Applicants living in and/or being schooled in Canberra or metropolitan Sydney are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Requirements: If you are an Australian Citizen, hold Permanent Resident status in Australia or are a New Zealand citizen, and are a school leaver, or completed school last year and did not enrol in any tertiary degree or diploma course this year, and live and attended school in one or more of the listed regions, then you are eligible to apply.

Applicants need to have lived in and been schooled in the eligible areas and must also have outstanding Year 12 results.

Bachelor of Philosophy Scholarship $5,000 There will be a small number of scholarships of $5000 per year available for award to students who are successful in gaining admission to the Bachelor of Philosophy degree program.

Requirements: Awarded automatically to highest ranking students accepted into the Bachelor of Philosophy Program.

Bobbie Fenner Accommodation Scholarships 50% Rent Four Bobbie Fenner Accommodation Scholarships at Fenner Hall, a college of the ANU, are available to students accepted into the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours), PhB, program.

Requirements: Offered to students accepted into the Bachelor of Philosophy (Science) program at ANU, and accepted into residence at Fenner Hall.
