ClickRepair is written in Java, and uses a Java run-time environment. The manual is in pdf, and is available in English and French. Deployment information is given below. The current version of ClickRepair is 3.0.1 (build 39b). A version history (pdf) is available for interested users.
License information
After an initial 21 day trial period, you will be required to purchase a license. See the license conditions and purchase methods.
Mac OS X version
The Mac OS X version uses Apple's built-in Java, which is a component of Mac OS X 10.2.6 and later, on both PowerPC and Intel.
Installation: Double-click the file ClickRepair.dmg and it should mount as a volume containing the application, a manual and an html file pointing to this website. Drag them to a convenient place – probably the best suggestion is to make a new folder in the Applications folder, then put all three files there. It should not be in a folder or subfolder with a slash (/) in its name.
Microsoft Windows version
Microsoft stopped including Java with its operating systems some time ago, consequently there is a Windows installer which includes a Java run-time environment. This installer should also be used for an upgrade.
Installation: The installer CRinstall.exe is prepared using InnoSetup 5 by Jordan Russell. Shortcuts to the application and manual are installed in the Start->Programs system menu. I have tested it under Windows 98 SE, 2000, and XP; others have tested it with Windows Vista. It does not run under earlier Windows versions.
Java versions: Sun's JRE (Java run-time environment) version 1.4.2 is bundled with the installer. Windows XP (or earlier) users should use this, since I do my testing with it. Windows Vista users will find that this JRE is not compatible with the "Aero" interface. They should download and install a Java 1.6 JRE (direct from Sun) and then choose not to install the bundled one. Re-run the installer, if necessary.
Linux version
There is a version for users who have Java 1.4 (or later) installed (on Linux, etc). Because of the variety of virtual machines available, I cannot guarantee problem-free operation in all cases. Note that the Mac OS X and Windows versions differ slightly from the general Java version, so this version should not be used on those platforms.
Installation: There is no installer. The zip archive contains the Jar file, the manual and an html file. It requires a Java run-time (Java 1.4 or later). The main class is JClickRepair. The application may be run from the command-line - typically "java -cp JClickRepair.jar JClickRepair".
